Anyone Replaced Cooling Fan Assy

Has anyone replaced the cooling assy on their SS? Among the other thing that needs to be fixed I have to address this is ASAP. I have looked online and see that there is a separate model number (have yet to find what that number really is) but I see a fan assy listed for the 2.2/2.4 that is like $85 and one for the 2.0 for $195. This was on a Chevy dealer that sells 'wholesale" parts. Now on eBay if you look up one of the 2.0 SS they are as cheap as $60. We are looking to get rid of this car and I am trying to do this on the cheap.

I think that $195 is for the whole assembly. The $60 ebay price sounds like the electric motor only.

Dealer charged 700 to do it less than that is a bargain.

Mine is in the dealer at this moment.....since Tuesday night.....for this reason. Part is on backorder and possibly coming in tomorrow. Its my only car and I have been renting a car.
This is my second overheating issue among many other issues and once it is finally fixed, I am looking to trade it in asap. Fun car......but too many issues.

The fans are different, but installation should be a fairly easy pain in the butt. It's just a couple of plastic clips that could take a "layperson" 8 hours to do. At least on a 2.2, install could be tougher on 2.0.

Do you have any updates about your HHR being at the dealership and the parts that are on back order?

Part was spac cased in from another dealer. Car was fixed and I got it back Friday night. Cost me $480.00 parts and labor. I feel this should have been covered under the power train warranty though.....I mean it does cool the engine after all!!! If it overheated and the blovk cracked, it would have been covered. Makes no sense.I thought that was messed up.
I also had enough of all the problems I had with the car and took it Saturday and traded it in. I'll miss the power at times but not much else.

I had the same problem, radiator cracked due to failed cooling fan. Fan covered by GM, radiator covered by GM after I called customer care. Still waiting for customer care to get in touch with the dealership so I can get the money back I paid to have the care fixed. They say they are playing phone tag with the shop forman. I'm going to tell them when they call me back this week with the same excuse ( it's been going on for a month now ) that I'm going to have my attorney arrange a conference call for all of us! Getting pretty sick of the whole deal.

Shoot a PM to Michelle at ChevroletCustomerService and have her look into it, she's a real person at GM and she does do her best to help with issues like you're dealing with.
