Anyones Manual trans/diff whine?

My SS's front diff, or maybe trans, whines at parking lot speeds, especially when its first started. Does anyone else have or notice this in their manual trans car? Its done it since I test drove it the day I picked it up, and I hoped it would go away with break=in. At 1000 miles, still noticable.

Mine whines while decelerating below 30mph, can't tell what it is or where it's coming from yet. Do you have the LSD?

mine has the whining at the low speeds as well. just wait till you get the "signature Chevy throw out bearing rattle" just remember they are not $170k Ferrari's, they are cobalt wagons... LOL they are whinny and clunky but a blast to drive. i stick with my decision to get the stick!

Is it the same whine that all manuals make in reverse but just lower in volume.

So just pretend that you have a small block with noisy timing gears that rodders pay extra dollars for.

Yes, it is just like that, but the funny thing is it does it in 1st or second, or with clutch pushed in. It is goes up with speed. Thats why I wonder if its differential noise, but it doesn't do it at higher speeds, so Humm. Is much more noticable when the car is cold thought, enough that I think people look up in the parking lot.

Yes, I have LSD, Maybe I should check if its noisy just when I am turning out of the parking lot,(takes about 3 turns in a short radius to get out of lot) which could be the LSD, and that would be cool with me. I just don't want something wrong.

I listened a little closer today. Slight whine in 1st at 5mph or so, all manual trans cars I've had have sounded like this, so I'm not too worried about that.

The whine I'm experiencing that I haven't encountered before is when I'm slowing down and the speed drops below 30mph. Clutch engaged or not, in gear or neutral, doesn't matter. Same if turning or going straight. My guess is the LSD, never had one if a FWD vehicle before. Maybe the RWD cars I've had with an LSD made the same noise, but I couldn't hear it over the exhaust. Makes me wonder if they put the right kind of gear oil in the diff or maybe left out the additive. I know it's GM with mega bucks for research, but they have made mistakes in the past.

I'm not overly concerned with it right now, but will be paying close attention to see if it gets louder or not.

Yep mine has 1st gear whine and some thru the other gears but not as loud. I think it is great. It reminds me when I was 17 an had a 1969 COPO Camaro with the Rock crusher 4-speed. trans. 1st gear in that trans. was really loud.
