arm rest
#2
Isn't there one already?
My 2LT has factory arm rests for both the driver and passenger side. The problem with the manual transmission was that the throws are so long, that you couldn't keep the arm rest down and still be able to drive. This, along with my hand hitting the leather upholstery on the driver's seat in 2nd gear, was solved when I went to the TWM short shifter!

To be honest, I thought about this, but changed my mind when my son picked up a new Cobalt with a manual trans. My sons new Cobalt is equipped with a factory arm rest/console compartment. It really becomes a PITA for daily driving.
I experienced constant flip up, then flip down; Elbow hitting the bottom of it when it's folded up and you're shifting into 2nd and 4th. It gets in the way with spirited driving.
Maybe for long trips it's great, but it is always in the way for drives that we do around my home.
Think about this if you go the custom route with you manual trans SS. I would rather use a pillow for long trips and forget about it for when I'm driving for fun. Maybe GM Performance Division has good reasons for what they do.
If you must, maybe design something that is easily removable for around town, but can be easily installed for long trips? This way if you don't like it, you're not stuck with it.
