It Was Bound to Happen
Well I haven't posted in the forum for the better part of two years. Why the absence? Well I bought myself a Camaro 1LE and have been racing it for the past year! Just loving it. So what about my 2008 HHR SS? Well I still own it and love it. It's my daily driver and it's been the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned.
But it was bound to happen. After 7 years and 138K miles, my first issue has come up. I was driving about 80 mph on the New Jersey Turnpike during rush hour and I started to feel a pop on the clutch when I fully engaged it. I knew something was going to break but was hoping I could make it the 15 miles to my office. Well I made it exactly 1 mile when I engaged the clutch again and the pedal just dropped and stuck to the floor.
Car has been towed to a garage I fully trust and turns out the slave cylinder gave out. Not bad after that many years and miles IMHO. The issue is to replace it and the clutch while I'm at it requires you to drop the front sub-frame and the amount of time it's taking is longer then I was hoping.
I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Anyone else run into a similar issue?

138k miles on the stock clutch and parts sounds like you got your moneys worth. Especially on a SS.
If it was mine, I would replace the clutch master cylinder also. Might as well have all new clutch components.
