The Brake Fix Is In
#211
I have my AT in the shop today getting the pump installed.
I had the issue several times in the summer, especially when I would start the car and immediately back out of my driveway. A few times the brakes didn't respond at all and it took me 20 feet to come to a stop!
Had it in to the dealer back in July and they told me there was nothing wrong, then i saw the bulletin on here and took it back in.
They initially told me they would have to duplicate the problem, I tried to duplicate it myself 3 times recently and couldn't. So I demanded they do the work regardless if they could duplicate it or not, based on my complaints from July.
It must have worked because they just called me 10 minutes ago and told me they were installing it!
Phew, I wonder why it would happen in the warmer months and not in the winter. I think it's because I usually start my car with the remote starter in the winter but not the summer.

My dealer said they had to check it and order parts. I dropped it off and they already had the parts by the time I arriveds and installed them that day.
I went back to pick it up expecting to have to bring it back once they got the parts. I arrived he gave me the keys and said it was done.
I do have a very very good dealer service department.
I get the feeling GM is just telling the dealers to take care of it like they should.

I just set up an appointment for next week with a second dealer to attempt to get the brake fix done. But I'm not real optimistic. When I called to set up the appointment, and explained the brake fix, the service manager had no clue what I was talking about and was somewhat obnoxious about the whole thing. I don't know what to do if this dealer can't get it done right. I'm past 32K miles, so my bumper-to-bumper warranty is almost up. I doubt the brake fix is covered under the 100K powertrain warranty. Is the dealer required to comply with a TSB even if the car is out of warranty? I know they are required for recalls.

Dropped the SS off at the dealer yesterday for the brake fix. Had to take the Avalanche to work, and promptly had a tire blow out on the interstate on the way to work. Fortunately the DOT has a roving repair truck that helped me change the tire. Late yesteday afternoon I got a call from the dealer saying they couldn't finish the brake fix and would require another day. Ugh.
All I can say is that they better get this brake fix right after all the crap I've been through with two dealers so far.

Ya, it took the dealer 2 days to get mine right, but I have had zero problems with the fix.

It took my dealer two days as well... they hadn't done it before and took their time, but the work was done right and I've had no issues since then. I'd rather they take their time and do it right.
