Well they got the vac pump today and installed it but threw a code.

The TAC is to call them back with a fix and I should get it back Wed.

I was suprised they got the pump so fast.

I also got the install price of $106 for the stage kit. I will order it from work. I was going to buy it from GM Parts Direct for $473 but when I went to check out they wanted $99 shipping. My discount at work is $514 so I will take advantage of that.

I would love to get this fix. My automatic has the problem but I really don't want to mess up my stage upgrade, It's working to well. I went thru the issues being the first for the upgrade but I think this time I'll wait for others to iron everything out.
Has anyone with the stage upgrade applied the brake fix and had a successful installation?

I just heard they had an issue with the pump coming on but have yet to see it has been resolved.

I hoping they will have a flash update to correct it. I figure by the time I get my stage kit in and make an appointment they will have it figured out.

At worse I will have the hardware on the vehicle and not have to worry about installing it.

To be honest I go this vacuume kit on mostly so if the wife drives it and forgets. I seldom had an issue due to the fact I never just get in and pop it into gear as soon as the engine hits.

Other than what GM MGR posted I have not seen anyone else that has said they has a problem. But the again most stage kits are on 5 speeds.

Yes, I haven't heard anyone else either having had it done. Just that one with the issue of the pump not comming on. What worries me is that there was an option or a different download which asked if the vacume pump was installed when I had the upgrade done in December.
But what I have experienced is that my brakes functioned better after the stage upgrade than after the first reprogram fix.

That is exactly why I would like the fix also. My wife might get right in the car an go - Fast. No matter how much you explain the situation they will forget.

Well my upgrade will be done tomarrow and it will take me about a two weeks before I can take it back in and get the stage kit in at work.

I just can't wait to get it as I have friven the 5 speeds and miss the 1st and 2nd gear pulls.

It is not like I an ricky racer and I am not a tire burner. But getting on a on ramp and letting it spool up once in a while feels good.

I miss my old Chevelle SS and this brings back that old feeling.

I have a 5speed and noticed a stiff brake pedal with no brakes on two occasions now after leaving work in the morning, actually had to apply the handbrake or would have rear-ended another vehicle exiting the gate. I'm going to contact my dealership to discuss. Will update the outcome once there is one.

I took my 2009 AT HHR SS in for service for an engine code problem for the third time in 2 months. I informed the service writer of the 09-05-22-001 TSB and told him I was having a problem with the brakes when I first started the vehicle in the morning. He entered my vin code and told me there was nothing listed for my vehicle. He would not look it up by the TSB number. When he came back to inform me that they would need to keep my HHR to figure out what was going on with the engine code he stated that the brake problem was normal.
Does anyone have the full content of the TSB available? I would like to print it out and present it to him when I pick up my car.

We have one other member here who claims to also have the problem on a 3 spd.

It looks like it may be an issue on some but not all 5 speeds with so few complaining.

I am wondering if there is a different problem here as almost every auto is effected.

Might want to contact the dealer and GM to make you complaint. GM MGR said this fix weill not work an a 5 spd but given enough calls on the s spd they will come uo with a fix for yours.

For now please just do not drive right off and give you engine 15-30 seconds to build vacuum.

The auto drivers had remote start to deal with it but unfortunatly you do not have that option [no pun intended].

I'm debating whether to push the dealer to get mine fixed until I hear that the vacuum kit works with the stage kit. The brakes do work when the car is cold, you just have to really mash down the pedal. In most cases, I just take off and know to press the brakes really hard for the first couple stops. If I'm in a busy parking lot or something like that, I will let the vacuum build before taking off.
