The Brake Fix Is In
#63
As soon as my kit comes in I will have it installed.
Or as soon as I get my HHR back. The TAC has my dealer getting a new engine wire harness as they think it has too much resistance and is causing the low voltage code.
With the roads all messy I will drive their Cobalt and not be upset. I should get it back this week. I hope.
Why is it the simple things that always get difficult.

I just called my dealership and I was told the stage kit is not available until mid-end of March. They are going to order me the vacuum pump though. I can wait until March but I am just curious how some seem to have it already installed.

According to other posts on this forum crateenginedepot.com may get some this week.

Getting the brake vaccum installed tomorrow, the Stage Kit soon to follow (hopefully).
Do these codes that get sent down from TAC, become instantly/automatically available to the dealers? I assume so, just not sure of the whole process. Just want to ensure that the right codes will be sent when the brake issue is fixed tomorrow. Given that its the first, and who knows, maybe last one that this dealer will do (not a lot of SS's up here), I want to make sure they have all the info needed...both for this install, and for the Stage kit, so that its done right and with no complications.
Also, since my boost levels are lower since the second reflash 2 months ago to try and solve the brake problem electronically (through, judging by the boost guage, decreasing boost and increasng vaccuum pressure), I want to make sure that this (and the lost performance) is restored through whatever the proper code is to be used, after this brake issue is solved.
TIA

Here's a silly question, and I am getting ahead of myself here...but is the new code from TAC sent when the brake vaccum is done, or is it in the code sent when flashed after the Stage Kit is installed?

HHR SS Brake issue
I gave the dealer the TSB number and after they confirmed the problem the parts were ordered. It took 3 weeks to get the parts. So far it hasn't gone well. Dropped the car of and they said the end of the day. The dealer called and said they needed another day. I went to pick it up twice now and each time when I started it the check engine light came on. So they still have the car 4 days now. The vacuum pump is wired into the computer to control its operation. Apparently they have to rewire a good deal of the harness, removing pins and changing there position. Be prepared it may take them a while.

I brought my car in today. They fixed the headliner rattle, some bushings are on order for the creaky right front end, and the brake issue "took longer then expected" today.
Although they assured me it would be ready tomorrow, I am guessing when it gets installed, there will still be these above mentioned (and mentioned other places) error codes. I had them get me a rental for the night (I did need a vehicle this evening), and I figure, tomorrow may come around and still no fiz, so the rental will be essentail over the weekend.
Here's hoping.
And thanks Chevy Mgr.....one step at a time, hopefully the brake issue and boost issue upon reflash solves that...and worry about the stage kit when I decide to go ahead with that.
