Brakes when in Reverse

Anyone noticing issues with braking? When I backup the brakes just don't want to grab and stop the car. I find myself having to push down pretty hard to get grip when reversing. I might just need to hit the back country roads and slam them a few times to break them in better.

Brakes are biased to stop the car better going forward. Most of the braking is done at the front axel. You shouldn't be going fast enough in reverse to have issues but it definitely won't stop as good as going forward.

I recall brakes "self-adjusting" when stopping in reverse. Is that still done these days?

I had this happen to me for the first time today. I was backing down my driveway and the brake pedal was very stiff.. I had to press on it pretty hard to keep from flying down my driveway. I've noticed this same thing happen on my gf's civic. Not sure what it is.

Adjusting in reverse are for the drums. If you have rotors on the back the pistons should auto adjust as the pads wear.

Holy yikes! this is straight out of a recurring nightmare I have, seriously. I have this dream that recurrs: I'm driving a vehicle in reverse really fast, and cannot get the brakes to slow it down. I press, pump, and stab the pedal to no avail, and am left to attempt to steer the car in reverse at high speed. I usually awaken right before impact...
