Question Brembo Performance vs Basic SS brakes

I am searched pretty far and could not locate any performance data on the stopping power of the Brembo brakes vs the standard SS brakes. Anybody have the data?

I have not seen any distance data for stopping with either step up

I have no numbers....but when it comes to physics, the brembo rotors are larger in diameter than the standard SS rotors, therefore giving more leverage to stop...plus dual piston front calipers if I'm not mistaken
Plus they look sweet

I have owned both, lets just say the Brembos work very well, and the others don't.

^^^x2. I have also owned both and the brembos are far superior to standard. Those four pistons are powerful enough to put you through the windshield. More brake dust though. Only other drawback is if you wanted to drag race with slicks. 17s will clear the brembos, but 15" slicks or radials are optimum for our cars at the strip.

I never thought the standard brakes in my SS were lacking in any way. However since my rotors are worn to the min limit in 57k miles(plus worn out second set of pads) and need replaced anyway, I decided to upgrade and bought new larger rotors and new Brembos. I will report back when I change them out.

I did the Brimbo upgrade... While the SS brakes are adequate, the Brembos are like throwing out an anchor and look great too. Plus, rotor have not warped since the upgrade.

Did you just change the fronts over to brembos?

There are no Brembos for the rears Bigjack. The Brembo package on the SS's was a front only thing. Regular calipers in the back.

you can find the brembo's on few auto parts stores websites (nationwide stores), might not say brembo name but they are them, only problem is they are all on backorder! you most likely can get away with taking in your old calipers for the core refund (most wont check that they are the same) and get them for under $200 each, more like 130-150 each!
I was trying to do this myself BUT I couldn't wait, my fillings were coming out from the shake from my brakes! I just ordered and put on a nice set of slotted rotors and pads for under $160 all the way around. after bedding the pads no more shake! and I did check my wheel bearings before I did the work. these cars are bad for them going out.
good stock replacement rotors from Napa are the best from what I have read on this forum!
