Brembo Rear Brakes?

Brembo Rear Brakes?
ok so I was in a parking lot the other day and I noticed a car with front brembo brakes that looked very similar to ours but read. I looked at the back and what did I see but a set of rear brakes as well with the brembo name on them. They were on a Lancer Evo. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is the way the care comes? Could I get a set of these rear calipers somewhere?

Many cars come with Brembo's all the way around. I drove a new SS Camaro today with a full set.
THe HHR and Cobalt only come on the front and I suspect because they really do not need them in the rear and to save overall cost on these vehicles. Most cars with Brembo on all 4 corners tend to be a little more expensive.
Much is made about Brembo's on factory cars. At one time they were the top of the list brakes and were not avaiable in cheaper versions. Today they are still one of the top brakes like on the ZR1.
With that being said Brembo was bought out and the parent company was a OE supplier and this opened the door to Brembo as a larger OE supplier company.
While the Brembo brakes on cars like the Cobalt and HHR are a step up they are really a step down from the brakes in Brembo's past. I am in no way saying they are bad but they are just not the top end only brakes they once were.
You may find a Brembo that could be retro fitted to this with some work but it would not really improve much and you would have to adapt the brake systems to take advantage of it.
The HHR brakes do most of the braking in the front as most cars. The Brembo has a little more surface and better heat transfer. Also the stock brakes are not a bad set up with better pads. The standard SS brakes are just the same as the Solstice.
If you want to see some real brakes check out the ZR1 Vette. These are by Brembo and are state of the art. Ceramic rotors and all. I have heard the pasts were clost to $7,000-8,000 for this system.
