Car shows

Anyone doing them? I am surprised on how many questions people have about the SS. Very cool thing. HP is the big one. and most peoples jaws hit the floor, even stock. After I tell them of the Stage-1, that really gets their attention on a 2L making nearly 300 HP. But doing some detailing and have a few lined up, even one near Paducah which Im entering in to stock best appearing GM in September. Plan on a few aftermarket appearance things. Nothing overkill but will post when done. Im half way saved to a Stage-1 as of now

Been to a couple and going to another at the end of the month. In my experience even in a group of HHRs the SS generates minimal interest from spectators.

Maybe its the area or the crowd type but seemed to spark alot of interest here. We enjoy them anyway and see what happenes.

Last year we attended the Super Chevy Show in Norwalk with 15 HHRs total, 3 of those being an SS. Even at a Chevy Show interest was minimal:

Great pics. Yeah Dragstrips I can almost see why, they want Blown 502's and what not. Has to be some of the thinking there.

Attended another car show last month at Mary Jane Thurston State Park in Grand Rapids Ohio with 2 other non SS HHRs and again interest was minimal:

The show we are going to at the end of the month will be right here in Hillsdale at the Fairgrounds and we have 6 HHRs attending as of right now. 2 will be SS including a custom 2 tone (This one will probably generate some interest as it has been modified).

I've entered three shows this years, two best flame awards, nothing in third, most people think I made it a panel and are quite suprised to find out it was a factory order, GM didn't do its homework, but then who am I to complain, I'm one of the lucky 216 that owns one.

Being in the Show car/Race car graphics business, I attend a lot of shows. Until recently, did'nt show my cars much, but now with the attention the SS is getting, will show more in the future.
This past weeknd, while working the Goodguys "Summer Get Together" show, the promoter entered my SS in the show[can you say FREE]. I could'nt believe the intrest in the crowd and also the car guys in the SS. I have'nt done much mods yet, but in the next few weeks got lots of stuff comning[Pedders-Wheels-front splitter-rear diffuser-racing stripe w/ matching painted wheels among others].
Most all thought I had taken a reg ole HHR, and modded it, even tho it's mostly stock looking, and that it was either a v6 or a v8. The SS drew a lot of intrest this weekend, so I'll be entering it more, after I finish the mods[just for chuckles]. The SS gets as many looks as my tricked out 96 Impala SS does, even on the street.
Guess the intrest in a car depends of where you live, and the amount of people that are intrested in cars. Here in Nor-Cal the car intrest is very high.
Just this show[one of the lesser Goodguy shows here] drew around 400 cars and a few thousand people, and the upcoming ones a lot more.
Going to be entering all the Goodguys shows, and the two from my ole friend Pete Paulsen, in the future.
As one guy said to me this weekend "That thing looks like it would eat your lunch" "Moon"
