i just entered my 2009 SS in a show in grayslake, il, at the lake county fairgrounds, & entered the stock 2000- 2010 class. there were 5 cars in my class & i took 3rd! i spent all the day prior afternoon detailing the car. i had it on a lift & took the wheels off & cleaned them inside & out & cleaned the undercarriage. 1st place went to a 2003 monte carlo ss & 2nd went to a 2007 mustang gt500.

We took my SS and my guys GTO to a few weekly tuner meets. He has a nodded gto my SS stock. I get all the attention from our cars. It really depends the crowed at the meet. A more domestic meet his car got more then mine did.

I would think you would have to have the SS significantly modded out to attract any attention and win any awards at shows. I'm picturing something like a red SS with yellow and orange flames down the side, specialized side-ported exhaust, lowered, and hood scoops.

When I say minimal interest I mean from the spectators. In my opinion there is no way a stock HHR of any form should win any awards in a car show and I agree it would have to be significantly modded to win something.

We do about 5 shows a year with 60 to 700 cars. In the past we have built show quality vehicles and taken home many awards and had lots of people interested. The HHR is a 06 with painted flames, lowered, wheels, exhaust and intake and my copper work. We have a few first place trophys and plaques. Awards are nice but not the reason we go to shows. Its just fun to hang out with other car people and enjoy the variety of vehicles there. The HHR gets to the shows in confort and i know I won't have breakdowns. It does not draw large groups but people do like to see it.

Yeah I really enjoy it. Like I said myself just mearly a month ago, didnt know it existed and thats the responses I get on the SS. I explain it does stop, turn, and go to SS standards, and is why I bought one. I prefer the cruise ins but there are special classes Im going to enter in free or small fee that award to Best new production GM, ford, etc. So may have a chance there since the SS here is turning heads.

Sounds like one I've seen somewhere before, but I don't think it has a hood scoop
