Check Tire Light Popped Up

LAST WEEK, THE CHECK TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE, SO I QUICKLY CHECKED ON THE DIC & IT SHOWS NORMAL 32 PSI AIR PRSSURE & EVEN WENT OUT TO VISUALLY INSPECT IT & IT LOOKS FINE. TRIED TO RESET THE BATTERY TO MAKE THE LIGHT GO OFF , IT WORKED, THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AGAIN, BUT ONLY TO COME BACK ON 1 DAY LATER. GUESS IM GONNA TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO GET LOOKED AT.

ANY OF YOU HAVE SUGGESTIONS WHAT COULD BE GOING ON ??

I would just take it in and have them check it out, something is tweakin out if the tire isn't low. If you want get a pressure gauge and check it yourself just to be sure. But I say just take it in.

Mine has done it twice. RR display goes to -- which means it is not getting
a wireless signal from the transmitter in the RR tire. Came back OK for
while , then failed and came back again. The trouble is in the sensor inside the tire. See dealer. Those sensors are a known trouble spot on alot of cars that use them. We have them on the factory GM racecar I work on, and we
have to replace them, now and then.

Most all of the GM vehicles I have dealt with in the last year that have TPMS ,seem to have a problem with the right rear sensor. Not sure what it is about the right rear but most of the time it is the right rear causing problems.

Wireless you say? Maybe something is interfering with the signal? I really don't know what much about the system.

They operate in the 430 MHZ band , a low power band, where devices like
the wireless outdoor temp units transmit temp data to an inside display unit.

yep ! it was the right rear. my wife took it to the dealer yesterday & they said they replaced a sensor. also they chipped a small pit in the rim trying to get the lug nuts off.my wife is upset & she will be e-mailing the dealer & will insist that the rim be replaced with a new one.

There is a procedure to calibrate the TPMS. It is in the owners manual. Section 5. I would try that before taking it to the dealer. Can't hurt anything and might save a trip.
