Hello all. My name is John and I am a new user on the forums. I have a 2009 SS just shy of 160k miles on the clock.
I decided to join after reading about other's spring issues when I started having issues with my own clutch pedal return spring getting weak and worn, and the pedal not fully returning fully upright. With the apparent non-existence of replacement springs, I took it upon myself to see about having a new spring custom made by a local supplier. After getting several quotes, I found a shop in Romulus, MI that would make me a spring for far less than other shops.
This post is both a public [non-affiliated] thank you to Jim (manager) at Jade Manufacturing Inc but also a notice to anyone here looking for a similar spring, he still has the drawings and tooling to make them (but supplying a sample is still best). I am in no way affiliated with Jade Manufacturing Inc and gain nothing from anyone buying anything from them. Jim just asked me to mention his shop to anyone that might also be looking for these springs.
If you are looking for a spring or want to have spares, call Jim. Jade does not keep these springs in stock but can make them to order. I do not want to post what I paid because, given the custom nature of this work and ever-changing market conditions, your price will vary. I will say it was much less than the couple thousand of dollars quoted by other shops.
Attached is a photo of my OEM spring (left: weak, rusted, abrasion damaged) and one of the new Jade springs (right: untrimmed). I got several at once and they were made directly off the OEM spring I supplied to Jade. I already installed one in my car and it works exactly as intended. Unfortunately, I do not have a solution for sourcing the spring grommets/insulators... yet.
