Referring to above infomercial........ is limited slip on or available on the SS? Sorry about the damage and inconvenience and also sorry to read someone think you could get the dealer to pay for 3 years of oil changes but then forums draw people and comments like that. ........as if it was the dealer's fault........ duh?
I think it's funny what people will put up with. A brand new car breaks after taking possession of it after 2 days and people are like...meh. Maybe it's these same people used to the GM quality from the 80s. American cars are GREAT now, but it is up to the consumer to help keep them there.
If a car breaks after 2 days, people are saying that it's not the dealers fault. Sure, perhaps. What I said was that it was the dealers' responsibility. There is a difference. Dealerships deal with customer service. I truly believe that the dealership should do something to offset the inconvenience.
I am not saying that you should all agree with me (it appears that most don't). I am okay with that. I would expect more from the dealership then a new transmission installed if it broke after 2 days. You might leave there skipping at the sound of that, good for you as you are clearly easily pleased.
For example, you go to a restaurant and there is something wrong with your food. The server would replace the food and say, "Here, we knocked that off your bill." or "Here is free desert for your troubles." Gosh, if my $25,000 "meal" had a problem with it right after I received it, I would expect something for the hassle.
If the dealership was smart they would automatically do something for this guy. With how the market is with automobiles this day and age, they need to keep customers loyal. Not a good way to start with a car breaking after 2 DAYS!
Look, if it was 6 months or later after taking the car, stuff happens, but common, you have to agree that 2 days is somewhat egregious. That sort of thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I have had mine for 5 months now and if something bad like that broke on my car, I would still love the car as I had time to get to know it and realize what a great machine it is. I would not have such an issue with it.
...But 2 days later?!
You guys are pretty understanding.

Another one here
I picked up an HHR SS in mid June, and thought I heard some noise from the transmission (gridning when pulling out of my lunch stop on the way home from purchasing it), but thought 'it couldn't be'. A couple days later, and its too frequent to ignore. Turns out there was some internal transmission failure, so it goes out of service for a week. After I got it back, there are now new noises that have been introduced (warbling\chirping at idle with clutch let out, rattling under power, and a fair amount of rattling when coasting in gear). I was told they are 'normal' by the servicing dealer, but the other brand new one they have doesn't make any of the sounds, and neither did mine before the transmission was replaced. Two trips to the dealership for drivetrain issues within ~600 miles and 7 days of use of the vehicle is not very confidence inspiring.

Well I got a call from the service department today. The new transmission is in and they are just waiting for a clutch disc before they start getting it put back together. They say I should have my car back by the end of the week. I am going to ask them if there is anything GM can do for me for my inconvenience on my brand new car. I know the trans is covered for 100k miles but I am gonna ask about extending the warranty on the clutch or the whole car as well. I figure it is worth a shot.
