Dealer visit today.
Last night the charge pipe mounting stud problem occured on my car and caused the pipe to come off of its mount while accelerating. I subsequently could not hold any boost which made me fear that something else broke when this happened.
I took the car into the dealer this morning and had them take a look and to have the stud replaced with the new and improved one.
Dealer called me about an hour later and said I had the following problems.
Bad mounting stud.
incorrectly installed charge pipe.
The dealer had to order the replacement stud which could take up to 5 buisness days to arrive, so they secured the pipe with zip-ties as a temporary fix.
The dealer also found that there was a "twist and kink" in the flexible soft pipe at the intercooler connection. They removed and reinstalled the pipe and my car has never run better. I have always questioned if my car was running right from the day I got it, and this explains alot. While they were under the car they tightened all the fittings because all of them were "very loose".
Under warranty so no repair costs for me on this one.
I suggest that anyone with the bad stud take care of it right away since it can cause all kinds of other problems if it flies off under heavy acceleration.
