Thanks everyone for your responses. I filled up yesterday with 92 octane and I can tell the car likes it a lot better. I drive 80 miles a day and need to usually fill up once a week so as long as gas stays reasonable 92 octane it is. One more questions and I know this is off topic, but I am relatively new to driving a manual transmission car (I have been driving a manual clutch ATV for years). Is there a secret to acheiving smooth shifts. It seems like I always get a jerky shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Every other gear is fine but its always 1st to 2nd that I get a jerk. Is there a magic rpm number to shift from or is it the way you let the clutch back out?

If you figure it out, it's only a few dollars more per tank... In my area, Premium is usually about 20 cents more. So, math.... .2 x 16 gallons = $3.20 per tank. I figure it's the same as using fuel cleaner. I even figured it out (for me at least) and the added mileage with premium over regular works out to breaking even with the price. Both cost 10 cents per mile, but I can go a few more miles with premium.

I'm with CrazyCarKid. I have the Stage 1 kit, but figured that I would never put regular gas in the tank anyway, even if I stayed with the stock 260HP set-up mainly because of the mpg and performance benefits. The St1 enhances BOTH.

It's mostly how smooth you are with the clutch. I don't have a manual SS, but in every manual trans car I've had I could shift smoothly into second at all but full throttle situations. You're probably popping the clutch a bit.

I think your right. I think I am letting the clutch out too fast after shifting from first. I tried letting it out slowly coming out of the shift and it was much smoother. I guess it just takes a lot of practice but I am determined to master the manual transmission on this car.

It's a difference of at most 20 cents/gal...over a 16 gal fillup that's only $3.20. Bite the bullet and use the good stuff. If $3.20/fillup extra is breaking your budget, you should be driving a '98 Civic.

Just went back and re-read the thread and saw you said the same thing I did a couple posts ahead...so I hereby change my post to "Ditto."
