check the owner's manual. if I remember correctly, you go through the DIC and when the oil % comes up, you press reset, and hold it for about 5 sec, and it will confirm and go back to 100%............

2nd method.
1.turn the ign key to on/run with the engine off
2. fully press and release the accel pedal slowly 3 times within five sec.
3. turn the key to Lock/Off, then start the engine

I am feeling kind of stupid here, but what's new.

I tried to buy a Hayne's manual for my 06 but they tell me at the parts store that they don't make one.

I am sure i can find the oil drain bolt no problem. I assume (but never go on assumptions) that when you look in the front of the engine, that the black plastic cap with the big 'nut' on top is where the oil filter is hidden, just to the right of the exhaust manifold? Meaning the filter is down in the engine?

If someone can confirm, I'd appreciate it. the rest should be easy.

Next to figure out how to check the dang air filter.

The AC Delco PF457G filter is a re-marked Hengst filter. Which is okay, because Hengst makes very high quality filters.

Some of the after market filters I have seen, only Wix matches the OE design, i.e. AC Delco. It has to do with the opening on the bottom end of the filter.

Here's a thread about it I started last year:

The Fram and Wix numbers above are also in my list, so the 2.0 likely uses the standard size Ecotec cartridge filters.

This list has a future-availability CARQUEST number on it. Currently the blue-box CQ filter is indeed #84082, but the red-box CQ filter is #B5436 or B5436MP (latter number must be bought as a shop-supply master pack of 12).

just remember to when you remove the filter, that there will be some oil left in the area where the filter sits, this does not drain out......as I mentioned earlier use some paper towels to soak up the remaining oil, this way you will have eliminated as much old oil as possible......

PS, if you check out the thread by Lone Ranger, it shows an excellent pic where the oil lays in the "galley" when the filter is removed....
