Ford GT Encounter

So I was driving home from work today and noticed there was a Ford GT behind me. We were stuck behind a car going pretty slow when we got to the passing lane (nice and safe, arrow straight and fully fenced for about a mile). I pulled out in 3rd gear at about 3500 rpm nailed it and kept on it a good way through 4th as I merged over to the rt lane. I am certain that he was intially thinking "oh darn an HHR just pulled out in the left lane" which is why I pulled about 400 feet on him before he got his act together. So he came storming up at full tilt and slowed when he got beside me and gave a thumbs up (yes, a thumb) and obviously was trying to figure out what the heck just happened. We both managed to pick up the pace pretty good to get around a semi, then the passing lane merged (sigh!), back to 55.

Very kewl! Love these kinds of surprises ... leave them in awe when they had such low expectations!

Well of course, hope I didn't imply it was a real contest.

That he gave a thumbs up was extremely cool. It means he showed respect, even though he could/would win in a straight up contest (LOL, $150,000 car vs. $24,000 car... he better win)

I think the comments were base on this statement..... If he was at "full tilt", you would have looked in the rearview mirror and thought, were did he go?

Those are pretty rare to see on the roads around here.

He has nothing to prove. I hate it when people expect us exotic owners to race them at every waking moment
