The Future of the SS
Does anyone know if Chevy is going to continue the SS past 2009 or are we SS owners going to fall to side like the coveted SSR, Crossfire, etc. the reason I ask is I was just offered 5,000 more than I paid for the car by a land developer who has over 100 cars in his collection-- for some reason he can't find an 08 anywhere and really wants one for his collection..........BTW his collection is huge! he even owns Lincoln's hearse and all the pedal cars from The Little Rascals.....

Kelly Blue Book puts mine (5600 miles, loaded 'cept roof rails) at $22,810. Come and get it. I'll throw in the $1k HRC/PPC tuner that's married to the car as a bonus.
The workmanship on this thing is teh sux0rz and the service I've received at 2 dealerships + GM corp have been even worse.

The SS will be around for a few more years and most likely gain more HP along the way.
The Chevy Orlando that was shown as the Delta II 7 passenger replacment has been anounced by GM this week as not being sold in the States.
The Eco DI Turbo is the future of GM performance as is the HV DI V6.
The only thing I can see why this guy would want a 08 HHR SS is it was a first year. Also production is somewhat low is by not any means rare as in 1969 Trans Am rare.
Now he must not be too bright as there are still 08 HHR SS on the web at some good prices. Why he would over pay is odd.
I wouls sell and rebuy in a heart beat.
Keep in mind the SSR and Crossfire were special built low volume cars done on seperated build lines. The HHR is a regular built HHR with some faster parts.
Also GM is selling them at half the price of the SSR. If the SSR had been built on the Colorado line and sold for $25,000 it would still be with us but at $50,000 and high cost of production it is amazing it was ever buiilt to start with.
The Crossfire was just a misfire by Chrysler as today you can find nealry new ones for $16,000. I work with a guy who bought one and he said the cheap price he could not pass up but he would have never paid $45,000 for it. He said for that much he would have had a new Vette.

Uhh, 5k. Let him waste his money into your pocket. The fact that you even entertained the thought means that you are not "rich". Take the cash. It's just a car. You can buy another. Don't get the ridiculous tickle-me-elmo madness. I mean if there is even one left in the country, how much could it possibly cost to fly in to a dealership and drive it home???
