Getting only 17mpg average with my SS ???

Check your intercooler. Mine had a small enough leak that it didnt trigger cel but my mpg was around ur range. A few back to back hard pulls will crack it sometimes. Also, does it have staged kit, any mods including kn airfilter? Air box lid on? Tuned? Diff size tires? How does it drive?

FWIW, we get between 17 and 21 average and I assume that's because I'e never seen the average speed on the DIC get past 21. On flat highway on cruise it gets as high as 35 MPG indicated, but all the time under 10MPH just kills the mileage. And while it's certainly not slow, I'd have trouble calling it a beast. We came off a 2000 Z28 and that felt much more powerful.

In case it matters that much I forgot to mention 2 things in my OP.
1: my SS panel is an automatic.
2: while it does have more pep than the 2009 LS panel I traded it in for my SS it is by no means a night and day difference as far as power and speed going from my LS model to my SS model.
When I bought the SS panel I had it shipped and bought it with no test drive,,,, the only reason I was ok with doing that was because it came from a Certified Chevy dealer and with a Certified GM warranty.
The lack of power and the bad MPG makes me wonder how certified the dealership I bought it from went thru the SS to do the certification,,,, but then again that's GM's problem, not mine.
This is the only Turbo SS vehicle I have ever owned so forgive my lack of knowledge as far as my SS goes.
Any more ideas, suggestions on what could be wrong would be most welcome as I plan on going to my local GM dealer as soon as I have some more ideas on what the possible problem could be,,,,,, like I said before I don't want them to be able to BS me,,,, the more I know the less they can BS me when I go in there to have them do a full warranty repair on whatever the problem is.
Thanks again in advance
Cheers

Don't be freaked out by all this talk of "There's something wrong with your car!" However, I own a 2009 SS and its a good deal heavier than stock and still manages 24+ mpg. I do a mixture of highway and city and I've grown out of my WOT habits.
