Does anybody know if "DAVYO" ever come across an answer to his/her low fuel MPG (17)?
All I ever saw mostly was people bragging about what they get.

Hey,,,, sorry for the late reply.

Me, Davyo, is male.

Nope, never found an answer to my bad MPG issue and lack of power.

Yesterday I took my SS panel to a different Chevy dealership, they ran a full diagnostics and claimed everything was fine and perfect.

As I had mentioned in my OP,,, my 2009 SS panel with only 26,000 miles on it has only a tad bit more power than my 2009 LS panel had, not to mention my LS panel got way better mpg.

Not sure what to do at this point since two dealerships have told me all is fine,,,, and they both claimed 17 mpg city is average for my SS,, the lack of power/speed they have no explanation for.

Anyone wana buy a Black SS panel with only 26,000 miles on it

Cheers

I'll take it off your hands. Haven't they ever test driven it? What do they say when it performs like a dog? I think you need to find a more persistant mechanic.

Yea,,, they drove it around the block a few times but then told me the power shouldn't really be noticed until I'm out on the freeway.

I have spoken of this forum to both dealerships telling them about my thread and reading other threads were EVERYONE is getting much better mpg and power than myself,,, they blame the issues I'm having on the Vegas climate, weather conditions and sea level.

Then they also tell my not to believe what my dash read is telling me as they are always off.

Yesterday my city driving was down to 14 and 15 mpg,,, my all time high ever has been 19 mpg.

With my 09 LS panel I almost forgot where my gas stations were located at,,, nowadays I'm on a first name basis with all my gas stations.

Agreed about finding another mechanic, which I will have to pay for and I do have a friend that is a turbo specialist but he is not cheap,, so much for my certified bumper to bumper Chevy warranty and any help from the dealerships.

I will pay my turbo specialist friend to do the diagnostic and then take the results back to Chevy in hopes they will then fix the problem.

Or,,,, I will sell the SS at a loss as I am a bit upside down on the loan as I just purchased it 7 months ago.

Cheers

When you say 17mpg average... are you basing this on driver info screen or are you doing the math when you fill up?

Also what does your boost gauge show as maximum boost during heavy acceleration?

Nope, no math,,,, just going by my dash readout and my way more than average visits to the gas pump.

Last night I went thur a quarter tank of gas in less than a half hour of drive time,,,, at least that's what my gas gauge read.

But even it's a malfunction with my dash read and my gas gauge that would still not explain why I'm now making such frequent visits to the gas stations.

No, I not have paid attention to my boost levels as my eyes have been focused on my dash read outs and now the gas gauge itself.

I'm going thru fuel like crazy and Chevy tells me nothing is wrong.

Cheers

Do you spend more time in traffic conditions or on the highway?

I spend more time in traffic,,,,, but then again the postings I am reading for city mpg's are still much higher than what I'm getting.

Currently I'm getting 14 to 17 city while it seems everyone else is getting at least 24 mpg city driving,,, that quite a huge .difference, not to mention the lack of power my SS has.

And then going thru a quater tank of gas a few nights ago for a mostly highway 30 min drive, my average speed that night was around 70 mph.

My local dealership that has been the worst to me has been Findlay GMC on west Sahara ave in Las Vegas,,,,, one of the service managers there is the one that keeps BS'ing me saying my issues are because of the Vegas climate and our relationship to the see level.

That's one Vegas Chevy dealership I will never ever set foot in again.

Cheers

I would visit all of the Chevy dealerships in Las Vegas. As soon as you find a Service Writer who listens to your problem attentively and offers to find a solution................make an appointment and get your SS over there.

There is definitely an issue with your engine. The fuel mileage and lack of power around town are the "red flags".

I have over 45 years experience working on cars and trucks, so I know of what I speak.

Also, I agree completely with all the other fellas who have already told you what their mileage is and the fact they feel you have an issue with your SS.

I bought my SS 2 months ago. 70,000 miles, auto & GMTU installed a couple of weeks after purchase. I live in the Chicagoland area and have yet to see MPG on dash readout go under 23. And, yes, I do test the working of the turbocharger on a consistent basis!

Good luck and keep us all posted!

Ya somethings definitely wrong...I get 26-28mpg all day regardless of driving style. And thats after fattening up the tune and boosted up to 22psi.
