Going car shopping.

I'm going to brave the freezing cold Chicago weather to head out to my local Chevy dealership to "look into" ordering myself a SS.

This would pretty much be the first brand new car I'll purchase and even though I know exactly what I want, I'm going to hit up a few dealerships this week and next before I decide which one I want to spend my money at. I'm not looking to get a "great deal" as I'm sure I won't be able to get one for under MSRP... I'm just curious as to what I will find.

I also want to test drive a HHR... I know I wont find a SS on the lot but I have yet to sit in one.

I'll keep updating my quest as it continues.

Good luck in your shopping! I'll bet if you order one, you could get it for $200 over invoice...just have to be patient & find a dealer that's willing...don't let them think you're in a hurry.

well the SS is going to be way nicer then even a fully loaded HHR. Just keep that in mind

Update:

The salesperson quoted me a price around 24,xxx for the SS. Not bad, he knows a couple members of my family and is keeping the price around MSRP.

His ordering software was not updated with the SS so he had to go off the book... He said he has one on order already and will call me when he gets it so I can check it out.

Also will be sending me HHR SS specific stuff from Chevy as soon as he gets them.

Annnnnd... he'll be calling me sometime as soon as he finds out about any incentives.

(Edit) He also said if you get the sound package and the sunroof there is some sort of $500 markdown.

i just called my local Chevy dealer here in Carlsbad, CA and they don't have any HHR SS's in and they don't know when they will be arriving.

So this may be very similar to anyone's situation if they go looking for an SS on a lot. Let your fingers do the walking...

I received a call from a larger dealer than the one I ordered mine through, this morning. He just received three SS's. A silver automatic and a blue and a black manual. I went there at lunch time and drove the manual. Very impressive acceleration and the silver one looks awesome. If it had been a manual I would have bought it on the spot. If anyone lives in or near Maryland it's Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring.

MWG2, that isn't that far from you. You can trade the 07 for a nice 08 SS

All of my local dealers said they should be in by next weekend.
I am tempted to make the 2 1/2 hour ride to Silver Spring....

Looks like the wife is getting a Victory red automatic SS....
Let you know when we decide.

The wife is getting the SS but you'll have plenty of opportunities to drive it, right!
