Has anyone upgraded the rotars yet?

My friend was having similar problem in his STi except it was making a horrible noise has well. Smoothed out the rotors and it was still doing it, changed the pads and it made it all go away... Now he just has and issue with a nasty thumping noise when he is turning left at any degree.
