HHR SS 5 speed

In California, most freeways are 65mph and some are 75mph. Lots of people here are driving slower. I'm not one of them, never less than 80. Is it worth the extra gas cost? To me it is. It may not be to you. And I just paid 3.94 a gallon for 87, 91 is over 4.00 and we don't even have 93.

At 72 mph (technically speeding and 7mph over the posted limit) I probably would never get pulled over by any state'ez or local cops, but is it worth it to save 7-9 minutes per hour of driving. That would add up if I was crossing the country, but in a 4 hour drive? What's the hurry?
It is funny, you will be driving some back woods country road in Ohio and come across a sign that says welcome to some town that has a few homes and a closed gas station and you will see the local cop shopping, for you.
I'm like you, I'll set the cruise control a couple miles under the speed limit and not have to worry about passing other traffic.
Now I live in Michigan and the speed limit signs are really references to go now slower than this or you will get run over. I travel I75 and I'm usually moving along at 75 or so and cars pass me so fast they must be doing 90 or better. I seldom see anyone pulled over though.

LOL, people...people
You would think from the way everyone sounds, that it is LEGAL to run people off the road. I have never ever seen a minimum posted speed limit greater than 15 mph less than the LEGAL maximum. So I can go 60mph on cruise in ANY STATE IN THE UNION, and if you "run me off the road", you will be driving your HHR to "work and back" on "privileges" if you get my drift. Ohh, and about the truckers. They are professionals, so they put on their blinkers and go around. I was passed by 1 or 2 per hour. No problems.

Subaru states 91 octane is REQUIRED for WRX. GM states 91 octane is RECOMMENDED for HHR SS. On http://www.fueleconomy.gov/ you can see that the (21/29 mpg MT5 & 19/29 mpg AT4) 2008 HHR SS EPA mileage estimates were determined using 87 octane gasoline.

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anybody driving faster is a maniac? – George Carlin
But seriously... if you're not going to drive it fast, why buy an SS? If it's the HHR looks, save money, buy an LS, and let someone have the SS who will actually drive it. If not the HHR looks, why not just buy a Prius?

LOL...again
I just feel that when on the highway on long trips any speed that you drive at will feel slow after about a half hour. Slowly but surely you'll want to speed up. Anything over 80 will get you tickets unless the next guy is doin 90. If I wanted a 12 second 2 liter 4 cylinder car, I'd be drivin an EVO like my friends. If i wanted to melt my tires at 170+, I'd buy my dads C5 (you can buy them used with low miles for the same price as a new HHR SS). But Id rather drive "green" or whatever the buzz prefix of the week is while on a boring drive through the midwest, and floor it on an on-ramp to MERGE HEH HEH on my way down 90-east. My mountain bike won't fit in an EVO or Vette anyway.
