Don't forget the auto has the remote start too. I love my auto SS, and it doesn't need the LSD, however there is a guy in Georgia who will make you one for 500.00.

well thats good to know. I just have to drive one now, and the closest is 50 miles, next day off is thursday looks like im heading car shopping then! who knows if I can actually pull the trigger know its all up to the mother in law co signing. Cant buy the car I want because when I turned 18 I thought it would be fine to pay $100 a month and get a 60" TV, and get 22" wheels and pay another $60 a month. then it all piled up and ended up literally wrecking my credit for rims and a TV worst mistake of my life.

Auto is great for drag racing, daily driving, and can handle some power. 5speed is mostly for the fun factor, road racing and drag racing a stick is also fun. For you it sounds like you already made up your mind auto would be your best bet.

Like I said, just gotta friggen drive one, I got two new borns, and only have thursdays off, the timing never works out and its about 45 min drive to the closest. Wish i knew someone that had one cause I dont want to deal with salesman **** if I dont like it. Mainly because the closest one to me is a 2008 HHR SS 5 Spd with NO lsd 63k for $17,500 haha they are on crack.

Screw the salesman. Get in there and roast 'em.. Autos will out shift a standard, but a five speed can hold it into the sweet spot better. The autos will need shift point adjustment to compete with that. In the old days you could do this by messing with the tranny raceways now its all computer. You can I think upgrade the shift plates in the auto to either red of blue pads.

Word of advice.

If you are under 30 years old check to see how much insurance is before you buy. For some based on several factors a Turbo engine can lead to high insurance cost. Best to find out before you sign for the car.

Second even if you drive a stock automatic keep in mind the Turbo Upgrade is what needs to be added to put the Auto on even ground with the 5 speed. With out it you are down 45 HP and it is a different vehicle. So keep it in mind if you drive one.

Third the prices are up in most parts of the country. At one time you could easily buy a low mileage SS for $15,000 but anymore most are advertised at $17K-$19K. Many are pretty well trashed too. I saw one like mine and they wanted $18,999 at the dealer I bought mine at last winter and I only paind $21K new for mine. It was stone chipped to death and dings. It did not even have many options.

Take your time buying and buy one unmodified and as low of miles as you can get. If it is modified make sure it is documented well on what all was done and how it was done. Most people smart about mods will do this.

At first I was bummed I got the auto since I searched for 3 months and could not find a decent 5 speed. But now I love it especially the launching. The only thing I dont like about the auto is boost dosnt spike to 15psi till higher rpms. Just waiting on my trifecta tune to fix that. lol
