It's Too Quiet!

I know this is usually not a problem, but with that little bitty tach, it causes issues for me. With the windows rolled down and then music up, the engine or exhaust is almost inaudible. Yesterday I tried to go from a stop in third and probably baked half of the life off my clutch, and I often find myself cruising at freeway speeds in third gear. Not accellerating to, mind you. CRUISING. I also hit redline constantly during accelleration when I'm not paying attention. Oh well. Nothing a shift light and a few simple mods won't fix.

No, I'm just used of using my ears to tell me when to shift, instead of my eyes. My other car had solid motor mounts, intake, header, and full exhaust. That's not to mention that the tach couldn't be passed off as a rapper's wristwatch.

Yeah, I've got to agree. Not only is the exhaust quiet and the tach tiny, but the engine is surprisingly smooth even at redline - ever other 4-banger I've owned has sent some vibrations in to the cabin at high revs, but not this one. That's a good thing unless you can't hear it either!

And sometimes, like when I'm pulling out to pass someone, I'm too focused on the road to spend time peering at the tiny tach. A little more rumble or growl that builds towards redline would be cool. I do appreciate how quiet it is just cruising around though, and wouldn't want to mess with that.

YEs. LOL. I seem to do fine with mine. I see that the best Shift point is around 6 grand on mine.
