Killed by a GT

Ok, coming home from work today, I passed a 03 Mustang GT. Not starting anything, just going home about 80 mph. Next thing I know, I got breathing room in front of me and he's about a quarter mile back and I see him drop the hammer. Well, any red blooded Chevy guy knows what I did. I lit it up and gave hi a run for his money. Yeah he cought me, and yeah he passed me. But the smile I saw on his face when I passed him earlier had turned into a frown and an expression of WTF is that! Think I tagged 130 before I needed to test the brakes. They still work. Like I said I had plenty of room in front of me for a mile or two. Now I need a programmer. I cant stant loosing to a Ford.

If he really blew by ya, he probably had mods. I'm no racer, however with a similar curb weight, same horespower (more torque 4.6l) stock, i doubt you would be "givin up much" to the ford. I think you both would have a similar top speed because of the HP being the same and the coefficient of drag being nearly the same also.

But I'm just an arm chair engineer :)

Was it a cobra?

Try that race from a dead start. I swear you will be surprised. Our autos suck at 80 plus computer doesn't do a good job of downshifting or the lack of gears really shows. I race an 07 GT from dead stop to about 70 and lets just say at the next light he asked "what the hell is in that thing!?!"

I replied "Four banger" with a huge smile! Only race when you can exploit the cars abilities. anything above 65 and I don't even race. Of course street racing is illegal and I don't want to glorify my own personal stupidity, but it sure is fun when their is no traffic. :)

Yeah, I had my buddies SS with a stick a few weeks ago and absolutely ate a GT off the line. I smelled something comeng from his pants at the next lite. The auto is less to be desired on the top end, but that car handled great at speed.

He wasn't stock. Those things have ridiculously bad WHP.

There's nothing wrong with a Ford... as long as it's a truck.

I assume you are asking what is a Cobra in terms of Mustangs? Basically they are Mustangs that are good. Regular Cobras are rated at 390 hp and the Terminator rated at 430 hp. Good luck lol (Talking 04 models)

I know nothing about fords, and I don't feel I'm missing out.
LOl
I was just saying that the numbers don't add up much in favor for the 03 gt. I didn't notice (or ask) if you had a manual or auto. I bought the first SS I laid my eyes on. It is a stick, and I sometimes forget that they make autos. So yes you might give up a little more with the auto, but with the tune you should be good to go.

If I get beat by a Mustang GT or a Cobra, I run home and grab the Z28. If the Cobra has mods I hit the 250 Shot.lol..

Anyways, we're compairing Apples and Baseballs. Different class and all. You would smoke him on a road course.

My brother in law just ordered a Shelby 500GT. I can't wait to go for a ride in that bad boy.
