Locking gas cap for the SS?

Anyone know if there are any locking gas caps available for the SS yet? I've called all the local auto parts stores and they cant get one. I'm gonna call the dealer and see if they have one available. Mike

I'm sure the same one that fits the regular HHR should also fit the SS.

I got the CST Locking Gas Cap Part Number 5504 from Auto Zone for my 2006 HHR and it fit great. But...if you don't get it on correctly every time, it will set off your check engine light. Happened to me and the only way to clear it without starting it a zillion times was to disconnect the battery and let it sit for an hour or so that way. If you have to do that, please remember not to shut the hatch completely...otherwise you'll be crawling thru the back of the car on your hands and knees to hook back up the cable. Been there...had to do that.

Just a thought, but people who are inclined to steel your gasoline find it just as easy to puncture the bottom of your gas tank and drain the gas that way. Replacing the gas tank is a lot more expensive than replacing a tank of gas.

There was a thread discussion on locking gas caps not long ago and the conclusion was a locking gas cap is not needed to stop fuel theft. The filler neck has an anti-siphon device in it.

Everyone has their own thoughts. Mine is they also might see I have a locking cap and move on. I also like a locking cap to keep anyone from putting anything in the tank.

Whats that old saying... oh ya, locks keep honest people honest.

You have a point, if the gas thief sees a locking cap they are most likely going to move on instead of trying and causing possible damage.

Remember the old cell phone antennas people would glue to their cars to look impressive, well, maybe we need a phony locking gas cap.
