WOW. that is exactly what it did today when I checked it out again. Is that a computer limitation? I figured it was just an automatic thing.

Ok, I shortened the rod all the way and test drove it at work , and home (25 miles). In 1st right before hittin 2nd I'm pushing the needle to 19 pounds. This thing feels like my buddy's 08 SS stick. Holy crap. Major difference. Not too worried about warrantee. I'm the only guy that will ever touch my car. So when the turbo, trans or head pops, I fix. Thank you GM. If you are good with your hands (using them and not seeing what they are doing) you can make the adjustment from the top. That is the best and easiest way to do it. I tried from the top and on a lift from the bottom.

Enjoy the new power while you can because depending on how many miles you drive daily you probably have about 2-4 weeks of enjoyment before the "Nanny" ECU realizes what you have done and relearns the settings back to stock. This has been covered in great length on the Solstice and Sky forums.

I believe the computer limits boost in first and second to limit torque steer and allow you to get off the line without excessive wheel hop and spin. Most FWD turbo cars on the market do this now. My SRT-4 (Neon) didn't and it could rip the steering wheel out of your hands!

In fact, I think the Mazdaspeed 3 detects both steering angle and gear to limit boost.
