lowering the beast
Anyone know if we can lower the SS just about an inch? It still sits a little too high in the fenderwelds for my taste. Are the springs the same for the SS as all the other HHR models??

I was wondering the same thing.. would like to close up the gap just a tad.
But am wondering if the replacement springs would provide the same or better ( or worse ) road feel. This is one the smooooooooothest vehicles I've ever driven that also has very good road feel. I'd be afraid that changing springs would take that away. Also wonder if anybody has added a swaybar to the SS yet..and what were the results? I added one to my LT and it did wonders..I think the SS could stand a bit of bar in the rear.. It has a slight noticable bit of roll on short turns at slower speeds..I prefer the go-cart feel. But with the factory spring package, what size bar would be required without
upsetting the balance? I think a 22mm bar would be too small......

I find my SS very flat through the corners. I frequently avoid any braking at all through a normal corner just because I can and it amazes me on how it executes. It is a challenge to negotiate a corner at very high speed though yet for me. I'd like to play on a closed course for a few hours to really learn the technique. I'm not willing to risk wading it up on the streets trying to find the limits.

Just went to the garage. No Rear Sway Bar from the factory. Looks like it would be tough to put one on. There's what looks like a large box (maybe a vapor canister) between the axle and the spare tire well. I read somewhere that the SS has a aux. fuel pump on them it might be it has 2 large lines coming out of it.

The Progress bar I put on my HHR mounted to the lower control arms and fit inbetween the rear axle housing. I saw an SS last night and looked under it and thought I saw a bar inbetween the housing but mounted on the outside edges of the control arm, but it was dark and hard to see for sure. But I do remember reading that the SS included a rear bar.
