Mods in general?

Alright guys I just joined the site I have a 2006 cobalt ss/sc and recently added 08 hhr ss 5 spd. So im just wondering whats up with a blow off valve? I know we currently have a diverter valve on the ss therefore it puts the extra air back into the engine for more power but is there a way to get a more beefy sound. I have also seen ppl taking their air boxes off but that makes no sense that box is used to keep the air cooler for more power. Just seeing what I can do and if there is any type of exhaust for better sound? Too bad the computers learn so we wont see any gains until tuners can crack it.

i was under the impression that blow off valves increase turbo longevity. i don't think there is any loss of power with them either. is that what your question is asking?

The diverter valve recycles the air since it has already been measured by MAF sensor. There is no change or increase in power since it opens when u
get off throttle anyway. GXP owners have changed spring and gotten more
sound from it. See DeJon Dave's web site.

I had GXP with Magnaflow exhaust and the exhaust note was better
without being loud. They should have systems out before much longer.

oh sorry, i was thinking of the 2009 Nissan GT-R when I wrote the above post. It comes from the factory with BOV's. As for the SS, I don't know anything about its turbo system (this is when I should stop typing, lol) but I would assume you could add some aftermarket universal BOV's...and if that is possible, I would bet some company will come out with a kit more specific to the SS once some testing has been done.

For now, you can probably get a universal BOV to the size needed, but I am very sure that SS specific mods are coming soon, especially since the Cobalt SS is going to have the same engine.
