New 08 SS Today! First Impressions

I picked up my new 2008 SS with 180 miles on it today. 40 were mine from the test ride.
They filled the tank, cleaned it up and it'll get the inspection sticker tomorrow.
They're throwing in the ash tray muffin for free woohoo.
First song she played for me was Bad To The Bone

I promptly took a 220 mile jaunt
I just did a break-in/shakedown cruise.
Mostly backroads (40mph avg) with very few stops and about 70 miles of highway, 20 @ 60mph & 50 @ 70mph.
A very good overall mix.

29.1 MPG with only 28 PSI in the tires!

She feels good powering out of turns and handles very nicely around s-turns.
I passed a couple of slow-pokes and that was adequate but I'll definitely appreciate the stage 1 when it's time.
I truly like the interior layout and was continually impressed.
I love this friggin car!

The only thing that really bugs me is the interior light shining on the center instrument panel from the moonroof control panel.
There doesn't seem to be any way to shut it off.
I was used to it after 200 miles at night but I'd like to have the choice to shut it off short of sticking electricians' tape over it.

Besides that she performs flawlessly.
Better than expected and she's going to get treated like a lady.
A lady that needs a good romp every so often and is ready to whenever it's required.

The bottom line is :twothumbs
I made the right choice.

Second impressions after later today's romp around New Hampshire.
Bike Week Laconia and fun in the sun.
Show your headlights!

You found a NEW Black '08 SS at this late date in '09? Things must be slow in your part of the woods

Buy a lottery ticket... with your luck who knows?

Congrats on getting the SS

I got used to the light, and actually it will come in handy when you need to put your coffee into the cupholder

Congrats! Your car's history looks like my car's history. A lucky find, and I bet you bought it for a very good price too.

I also purchassed a new 08 last month (Black ,5 speed with all other options) here in Delaware at a very very good price. I now have put about 2,000 miles on it with zero problems. I purchassed a 1966 chevelle super sport emblem off of e-bay and put it on the right front of the grille boy am I getting rave reviews everywhere I stop. Having a great time along with almost 30 mpg. I am now saving for the stage 1.

Please post pictures of the SS emblem!
I asked about this in another thread.
An SS 122t emblem would be hilarious.

Congratulations on your purchase and selection. I agree, a lot of car and surprising performance/handling for the money.

Up the back of Cathedral Ledge is more likely.

I was thinking the same thing. With '10 models appearing, I would not have thought you could find an '08.
