new ss coming for me!!!!. info please
hello everyone,
i will be getting a new hhr in 3 months when my current lease is up on my family car.
the hhr ss was my overall choice as it has ample room, FUEL ECONOMY and performance. also my wife won't drive anything that isn't manual. so an suv wasn't going to happen.
i didn't even consider a hhr until i heard of the ss version! what a sweet ride!
if i could get some info from you guys i would greatly appreciate it.
any probs with them??
how is the wheel hop during hard launches??
how expensive are, and how do they take to mods??
anything else you can think of.
i'm pretty pumped!!!
thanks

Let's see. I have had a few problems so far, but it's in the dealer tonight/tomorrow to get taken care of, obviously no cost to me.
I think it's pretty stable under hard starts. I haven't launched it at much RPM. The biggest thing in the torque steer takes some getting used to.
I got mine for about MSRP, it all depends on the area but think mid $20K's. I also do not know how they take to mods considering there really are not any out right now.
As far as MPG is concerned I dropped my SS off at the dealer getting 22.7 city and they put me out in an 06 LT Auto getting 24 City/Highway. And TRUST me, the difference between the LT and the SS... Night and day.
Overall good buy for performance, cargo room, fuel economy, and style.
Others to consider: Scion xB, Dodge Caliber SRT-4 (considerably smaller however), and the Dodge Nitro (Personally I hated the Nitro, but again, that's just me.

yeah, i'm sold on the hhr ss. not a big fan of dodge products.
my current fam car is a 05 focus st.
pretty good performance for a stock focus. the st has the 2.3 instead of the 2.0. i was happy with it but need more room.
and can't wait to get rid of the ford for anouther chev.
the ss is the only hhr i would consider. now that i know it exists.lol

Good choice! Those are just others I considered, but you obviously know which one won out over the others!
Have you drove an SS yet?
Also **BIG** THING! Make sure you get a 5 speed with the LSD!

Basically you get better grip.
If you want technical specifications on the LSD check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_slip_differential
Don't assume it comes with it. I did that and almost ended up with one without it.
