NJ dealer for Stage 1 install?

Hey all. I want to get the Stage 1 kit installed on my 2008, but also want it done by someone who won't screw it up and/or take 6 hours to do it. The dealership I purchased the HHR at (Wigder Chevy in Livingston) won't do it. Konner in Caldwell said they would, but have never even heard of the upgrade, let alone have installed one. Anyone know of a dealer in North/Central Jersey who has experience with the kit? Thanks. -Chris

I don't know if you're willing to cross the border to come to NY, but I had mine done at Barton in Newburgh. They have done them and know the process. They allow 2hrs, but no more than that. If you call them, ask for Lindsey Nybeck (845 561 1700), the service advisor. She knows the pricing for the ST1, (as well as those for the Cobalts which are more expensive)and labor rates.

Except for the 2 Bosch sensor connectors, you could not tell that they were even under the hood. The wiring was clean and they took care of my car.

Thank you. I will look into what such a commute would involve. If it is reasonable, I am sure it would be worth having a professional install.

I had the stage kit istalled in North Jersey. Crane Cheverolet did mine and they did a good job but.....it did take them over a day to complete the job. I was their first stage kit they installed but I believe they have done a couple since mine. The service manager was great through the whole thing and was very apologetic for the delays. I would recommend them. Another dealer closer to you and to where I live is Oasis Cheverolet in Sayerville. They recently corrected an slight issue with my stage kit and I believe they have installed others. Ask for Mike (service manager) he is great. Good luck and keep us posted on where you decide to get the work done.

Try Gearhart Chevy in Denville. I bought my SS there, and their service dept. seems to be top notch.

I also bought mine from widger to they will sell you something but wont talk to about any change, upgrades to the car. So, I had my up grade done at royal chevy in bridgewater NJ. It took just about 2 hrs. Haven't had a problem with the change yet. It is now about 2 months. It was worth the ride.

Wow, thank you all for the input. I have called Royal Chevy in Bridgewater and Steve was very knowledgable about the upgrade, and how they have one guy do them. Crane also reports having done a few kits, and are much closer to home for me. Both claim it is about a 2 hour job. I pick up the kit tomorrow at Fred Bean in PA, so I will have to make up my mind... Thanks again guys!

While we're on the topic, anyone in the Buffalo NY area? (I'd consider driving to Rochester or Syracuse, maybe Erie PA.)
