No Trailer for SS?

No Trailer for SS?
I was sad to discover that I'm not supposed to pull a trailer with my SS. Its a manual. Does anybody understand what the constraints are for an under 1000 lb trailer. it seems like it ought to be able to do it if driven with care e.g. using the lower gears.

Oh you can do it but if you have any kind of a warranty don't expect GM to cover it if you break something.
The Transmissions in this vehicle are a weak link Auto or 5 speed. The engines are tuned already to deal with it.
So if you want to tow you may do so but at your own risk.

IMO this is just GM covering themselves from possible liabilities and transmision replacements. Auto's will select the correct gears by themselves but our manuals rely on the driver to know what to do and many do not know how to tow with a stick.

the towing exclusion isn't there because of the transmission. GM doesn't want the car to tow, because the turbo will be always under some boost, as there will be an addl load on the car. as you probably know, while cruising along on the highway, the boost will be at 0 psi. if there is extra load, there may be some boost present all the time - & that can create A LOT of extra heat & potential problems.

This is how they show those stupid Ford adds where their truck tows a ship or midgets pulling an airliner. Uner initial boost it would go a little higher but the engine can handle much more than it deals with in any stock condition. At 300 HP the Ecotec is just at the start of where it can go.
The stock engine itself can handle up to 400 HP with no changes and after that they only recomend rods and pistons till the next level.

I have many times thought about towing the Sea-Doo with my SS, hacking up the bumper for the hitch is more of my issue than worrying if it could do it.
This about 7 years ago, but my buddy towed his little sailboat with his 5-speed Cavalier (Eco/Getrag) lowered on Sportlones/Koni's no problem!

Towing with an SS? I have an Avalanche for those duties. Honestly, I wouldn't want to tow with it anyway, it would take the fun out of the car. It's the same reason I don't ride 2 up on my Triumph
