GM did test and do a lot of work on the HHR SS at the Ring. There are many photo's of it there and there is a Video of it with John Heinricy at the wheel.

8:43:52 lap time at 141 MPH average
The truth is GM test all their new performance cars there as do most MFG, Many never get mentioned but many get noticed because it is the best place to get spy photos of new cars.
GM even recreated many of the tracks more improtant features on the Warren proving grounds and calls it the Lutz Ring. They can test cars here and get a good base line set up before flying the cars to Germany.
The make up of the track is more like back roads in most areas. The surface is far from perfect and it takes a good shock package to run good here and still ride good. Just because you tune here does not mean the engineers always get it right. But in the case of the SS they did a good job as it handles well and still has a civil ride. Sure they could have gotten a little lower lap time but they did the right thing to soften the springs a little and let make it drivable. Some engineers go for broke and create cars that are kidney busters.
Note the time it turned is good as many cars with slower time are like the 08 04 Mini Cooper S and just a little faster a 98 C5 Vette.
The video on the Cobalt SS is full length and it gets airborne a few times. It was near as fast as the Camaro SS.

Sorry for the miss but even near 90 MPH average is outstanding for a 4 cyl FWD Cobalt based tall wagon.
When the HHR came out who would have ever thought it could match the time of Jimmy Clarks 60's Lotus GP car. Before the crash.

Sticker says "tested" on Nurburgring Ring, not I drove on it. Duh! It was tested there.
Guess you would'nt put a sticker on you HHR, saying "Made in Mexico" either.

I myself like to advertise that "This ain't your grandmaw's shopping cart"
Lot of non car people think we are driving a PT Cruiser anyway. Especially the regular HHR's.
Guess I'm into making a statement, with whatever I do to my SS. "Moon"

just advertising that the Car is capable of handling and making some power.
I am still amazed at how many people think the SS is just a pt cruiser or something like that.

Ha! I orderd two, one of each in Silver. They should be in the mail already.
One will grace the rear window of my SS soon, so all you flamers get your best torch game on, cause I'm wearing my fire suit.
Like I said earlier. I like for my SS to make a statement, and so far hardly anyone thinks it's a PT cruiser, and it definately stands out in a crowd, and gets lots of attention, as I meant it to. It also does'nt play nice on occasion, as some v8's have found out. Might as well let people know, they could get their doors blown off, on occasion. "Moon"

I ordered, gonna go where the rest of my stickers are, inside lower portion of b-pillar where you can only see them if the doors are open. Sleeper style. The one performance sticker I have showing is all black, and blends in nicely. Got to give them some clue.
