That is my average over the 250 or so miles between Cleveland and Cincinnati. I reached 515 miles on a tank before filling up later in the trip. I still had 2 gallons left in the tank.

OK, I really do not know how some folks are averaging over 32 mpg on trips. For a perfectly level section of freeway, with minimal traffic and within 20 feet of level the whole way basically sea level +50 ft). Tires at 32 psi, 5th gear 64 mph (best speed for MPG), after many weeks of trying the best I can do is 32 MPG, and that is only for the best section of road. Not complaining, just can't figure out how & why some are doing better than that.

Probably the way they are figuring their mpg. Also, they need to make more than just one trip. Doing mpg on one tankful is laughable.

I compared 5 fillups with the DIC reading (i.e. not resetting avg MPG) and the DIC and the calculation were identical at 26.1 mpg, so now I rely on the DIC reading alone, whether it is for 1000 miles or 25 miles. Of course you are totally right about one tank fillup being potentially very inaccurate.

My mileage is improving as my HHR puts on more miles. I'm just over 8,000 miles now, and my last trip to AL averaged 32.6, up from 30.1 and 31.3 on the two previous trips. My daily commute is hovering around 28.6 and has been as high as 29.5.

Holy crap! I would have never believed this until today... Drove from Milw. WI to Fargo ND today and at one time I peaked at 36.2 on the trip!! Ran into a lot of slower two-lane traffic lately and it is down to 34.7 now. Man, am I happy about that! Tomorrow we'll see what ND and MT freeways will bring! Wyoming here we come!

wow, why is everyone laughing at me, and why is filling my gas tank up and driving until I'm scared ill run dry inaccurate? Is there some magical way i made it 515 miles on a tank, and could only fit 14.2 gallons back in it????

Good for you CarlsSS. I should post a compressed time video of my MPG AVG and rest all these naysayers. Also, I have a 22 mile loop here in Cleveland I run frequently, Downtown Cleveland to Cleveland Heights (all city at rush hour) to the city of Euclid (early AM, low traffic suburb), and then back downtown (reverse rush hour highway). I can get 30.0 MPG without pissing off to many speedier drivers. The only part I cannot always duplicate is the return downtown from Euclid. I have noticed that the prevailing winds (West to East) affect my mileage significantly on the Euclid to Downtown leg. Just to clarify, this is a 3 stop trip. Average speed 35-37 over the 22 miles, 12 miles city, 10 miles highway. I am also getting better as I memorize the timing of the lights. i break no laws, and if i am "in the way" of a lot of traffic either in the city or highway, I get over/out of the way. I now have 2000 miles in the precisely 30 days I have owned this great Chevrolet.

check out my last post in this thread: it's too long as it is. i won't post here also.
