Oil Change intervals

How long of a oil interval for your first change? Mine hit 12,000 miles before the % hit zero. Just curious if mine was "special".

So these cars go 3x the normal amount for oil changes? I took it to the dealership for it's first change and they want it back after 3,000 miles.

The intervals vary based on your driving. I think that the manual states to do it when the DIC tells you or once a year whatever comes first. It took me a while to get used to that myself, I started out doing it every 3k now I follow the DIC. Just do whatever you are comfortable with.

Of course they do! Dealerships hate the new oil life monitors because they lose a lot of money by not having customers enslaved to the 3,000 mile oil change.

This discussion has been going on here for years. The consensus is: do what makes you happy, but be mindful of the environmental and economic impact of your choices. No one has come forward with a problem resulting from a DIC malfunction, and none probably will considering the system was in development for years before it was first introduced on Corvette and Cadillac 16 years ago.

I do mine at 5K. 3K is a waste IMO. 5K is easy to remember.

I got the first change at around 4K miles, but I intend to go at least 7K for the next one. Especially since I'm using the synthetic oil.
