The pretty rocker pannels/skirts are prone to damage. anyone know where to get protective pre cut film?

 

I would order from the dealer. It's a 3M product and you could have a graphics shop order it for you in a large sheet and you would have to cut it down. If you do that yourself it won't look right and the shop will charge you dearly for ordering it if they don't keep it in stock.

Myself and the other best wrap man in central Indiana attempted to put that same material on the front bumper of a 2005 BMW M5 ($85,000 car) and we failed miserably. That stuff is voodoo cursed and I have no clue how it's done without any bubbles or wrinkles! We've wrapped complete semi's and trailers without problems but this stuff is insane!

Only problem with the stuff is if it gets a lot of dings from stones etc. it needs to be replaced. Problem is a lot of the time it takes off the paint when peeling off the protection. So you lose both ways.

 

Get them good and warm with a hair dryer and you'll reduce or eliminate the paint peel. You want that glue to be warm so it's nice and pliable and it'll come off easier. But yes, either way it sucks.

 

This company has kits for the HHR ss. I have a set of head light covers on my Subaru Impreza. It takes soap and water solution to work out air. Take your time it will pay off greatly in the looks.

ya but how much is a trip to the body shop going to cost too. I do think they are a bit much too.

 

In all fairness I don't think they are price gouging with the material. It is very thick, stretchable material and pretty conformable to the front bumpers. It's just a major pain to install. Plus the sheets are custom cut to fit the car, and there's quite a bit time and precise measurements that go into the production of them.
