The price of a HHR SS in Hawaii
While I was at the dealership picking up my 06 HHR a dealer (moocher) approached me about wanting to trade in my 06 LS for a new 08 Red HHR SS with black inerior. Sticker was $24K but with Hawaii mark up of $5,900 the car went for over $30K. I figure someone saw my 06 and asked if it was for sale and the dealer figured he could talk me into trading my car in for the SS and sale my car to someone else. It was tempting but I'm happy with my car. (its paid for).

I found 6 different dealers on O`ahu, and I know from recent personal experience that you don't have to pay that kind of premium in HI, as I just bought mine for a couple hundred over invoice (but lame that it got delivered in a month with no SS incentives). The Hilo dealership just got a silver SS in Tuesday, in the same shipment as mine (finally!). Check the neighbor islands, ship to O`ahu through Young Brothers for a couple hundred bucks if necessary. Worst case scenario is to buy on the mainland and ship via Matson for about $1,000 (from the West Coast) plus your airfare. But don't give that crook anything other than a swift kick to the groin.
The vehicle search shows 7 at 4 different O`ahu dealerships, as well as the one in Hilo.

Yeah, why the Dealer Mark-Up???
Is it they are just "scalping" because they can or want to?
I mean, doesn't all of the same vehicle have the same shipping charges Nation wide. I though that was instituted years ago to help people in Hawaii and Alaska. Also to prevent unfair advantage to vehicle dealers who are near a state line. Previously, consumers could purchase in another state and save on some sales tax and Destination Charges (kind of like some of the Canadian members thinking about purchasing in the States). I thought that was stopped.
