Pricing dilemma...

have stumbled onto a 2010 HHR SS... 5 speed, performance package... no mention of S1 upgrade... has less than 400 miles on it. Going to try & look at it this weekend. There seems to be a fairly broad price range for SS's. This one's kinda unique, due to the ultra-low mileage. It's a private party sale... not sure how much of the bumper to bumper warranty is left. Trying to decide what a good price would be for it, should I choose to purchase...

I know that, towards the end, many SS's were bought (leftover) at huge discounts... but also know the used car market's been going up quite a bit lately. Would welcome any input...

as with all used car purchases, do your home work don't beleive anything you hear and half of what you see. be sure to bring an extention mirror magnet and something to kneal on to have a look underneath thru the rims at the brakes, look for holes drilled for stereo equipment wiring into the spare tire area, fit and ease the doors hood and rear hatch open, try everything to make sure it works, and trust your gut instincts, if it sounds to good to be true than it probably is, but ask to take it to your mechanic to check it out. listen for the clunks and rattles from the front end for bearing hub rattle and sway bar ends loose, and so on. Best of luck I hope she's a keeper!!

The thing that bothers me about a super low mileage car like this is. This car is 2 to almost 3 years old, depending on build date. Probably only on it's second tank of gas. Is there a bunch of "old fuel" in the tank waiting to gum up that direct injection system?

If the car is "perfect", which it should be considering the low miles, I would try to buy it for 19,000. Be serious and don't take no for an answer.
I just bought my second HHR SS about 7 months ago. It was a 2010 5sp,1600 miles, performance pkg( brembos, LSD, RPD, the whole nine, had the dealear install gm upgrade) for 20800. I could have probably gotten it for cheaper but I made the purchase over the phone because it was across the country. Not much bargaining power over the phone as you would imagine.

The real question is..why is it so low...just not driven, or did they have problems that prevented them from driving it.......if its a barn sitter then its a good find..the 3 yr warrenty is still in effect and the 100k drive train is still good....as far as fuel..some good cleaner and new fuel should not cause any problems..if it was kept from extreme conditions.
