Lightbulb Questions for SS Owners

Hello SS Owners,

I have a few questions on what to expect from the SS's. I currently run an '06 SS Supercharged Cobalt and am looking for some comparisons if possible.

1. Turbo Lag: Nice thing about the SS S/C is that there is no lag. How would you rate the manual tranny's turbo lag, especially if your used to not having any?

2. Sport Seats: I've seen lots of threads on these, but still have a question on what part(s) of the seat is/are different. Are the seat bottom bolsters the only difference, or are the side bolster bigger as well? Also, if you've had the Recaros in the Cobalt, how do they compare?

3. Handling: My Cobalt has treated me very well for the local roads in terms of road feel and outright grip with little body roll. How does the HHR SS handle in comparison with body roll and road feel? Being a taller vehicle, do you feel like it is?

4. Does anyone have pictures of the dash mounted reconfigurable display that will be available in 2009? I think it's in the concept panel HHR SS that will be on the HotRod Power Tour, but I can't seem to get a clear frontal shot of it.

Thank you for your input!

Lag, there is a little. At like 5% throttle from a dead stop. Anything more and she spools up QUICK. Compared to an Audi A4 2.0T, the SS has zero lag.

Never driven a Cobalt SS, but the HHR SS is a very capable car. It rolls a little, more than my road course/AutoX Camaro, but not by much. It IS a taller vehicle but doesn't really act like one. First stock suspension car I don't want/need to modify.

Never sat in the comp seat. Sorry.

Love my SS though.

1. I had a 2001 Buick GS with a SC 3.8L so I know what to except from an SC engine. This is the first time I've ever driven a turbo charged vehicle and I'm not sure what to expect. The Chevy lit says that they've done away with lag but when I put my foot in to it, it starts to go and then a second or two later the boost gauge jumps up and the car just gets down, and I mean impressively down.

Is this lag? I sure would like to know more about the behavior of the engine and why I have that second of two of quite time.

2. Here is a pic of our interior with the comp seat:

It is only avialble on the drivers side from the factory. The passenger seat was left as is so it would fold flat. Like I have said in other posts, the seat bottom has more up push that I would like, or, I'm too wide at the thighs for the seat. My wife has yet to complain and I'm not going to do anything about the seat since it is her car.

3. My youngest son has a 2007 Cobalt SS and I would say that the HHR SS handles just about as well as the Cobalt. The HHR is a bit heavier but will you notice the difference after a few days of driving it, I don't but then again, this is really a subjective point for many.

4. I haven't see it yet. I'm using a DashHawk in mine. I understand that the display is an option, but I haven't seen a cost for it.

Actually that's what I thought until I did the passenger seat conversion, and as you can see in this photo the seatback still folds to the exact same "flat" position, even with the performance seat cushion and cover.
