Removing the resonator

Removing the resonator

I was wandering if anyone has just removed the resonator and kept the stock muffler? I was thinkng bout doin this or just replacing the stock muffler with a borla pro xs

Nuttin much man juss been workin a lot. How u been??? I better see you at the CED meet this june. Take days off now. June 25th and 26th. The 25th theyre renting out great lakes dragway for us and then were gonna have a downtown cruise and saturday is the big meet. Check the thread on cobalt ss . net under mid central and the thread is titled somethin like 2010 CED meet or something

More dead thread resurection

So I had the awesome and 100% original idea that removing my resonator might be a great way to open up the exhaust on the cheap. I see the youtube video here has been removed. Anyone that's done this to their car have a audio clip? Thoughts?

It seems like this could be a fairly easy DIY with a saw and some exhaust clamps.

I don't think you would notice any difference in sound at all with the stock muffler. Have you seen inside the resonator? It's not restrictive in any way. The downpipe is another story.

Well, if it doesn't restrict air flow, then I guess it's a waste of effort to remove it. Thought I might be on to a dirt cheap exhaust flow upgrade. Oh well
