Replacing my HHR

Oh, so what are you getting?
Tough deal about the SS, it was a great idea in concept, but how can you build the most technological advanced 4 cylinder engine (DI turbo 4 cyl) in the history of your company (GM) and not make sure its bullet proof, along with the platform its going in. Doing stuff half ass makes no sense to me.

A turd shot out of a cannon is cheaper and faster than an HHR AND a 94 Honda.

I am 6'2" and after driving my ss for a week I figured I would have to lower the seat also. Can not see traffic lights, mirror in line of sight and head rubs headliner. I plan on modding it soon. As far as being able to go back to stock when its done is the question, I would have to make it a bolt in kit. I dont know if that will be possible but was not worried about that becuse the power seat goes up quite a bit. I own a body shop so I have all the tools I need too. I will take some pics when I get going on the project and post them, I just need to find the time to do it.

Heres another idea for a shorter seat..if you dont mind losing the electric controls, which when set they probably dont get touched anyways...use the seat base from a LS/LT.
I have a LS and the SS....was using the LS the past 2 weeks and upon driving the SS again I immediatly noticed how I sat higher off the floor,..the LS made me feel like I was on the floor( the height adjuster bleeds down on its own so it stays down all the time now)My SS is down as far as it will go and I feel like Im in the air...anyways the difference in seat bases should make up the difference in the headroom with the sunroof...go find a non SS and try it out..!!

I am 6'3 and I have a bad back and a bad neck I get what you are talking about on this thread, I don't get why I has gone so far off course? But I will go with it.
The seat problem is not problem at all,its an opportunity to fit the car to you like a tight fitting glove, it just takes money " Cash or credit" to get your HHR
to better suit your needs, you could buy junk yard parts and have those parts modified to suit your needs, keep your old parts to undue the mod, as far as resale no car no matter what it is, has any resale that will be fair to the owner. All dealers always go for all your money and then some. they will never buy,or trade your car where you leave feeling like you got a fair deal. resale value is a term used to make you feel good about buy a product, but in reality
unless you own the car outright and sell it on the private market you don't stand a Chance of recovering much of your investment. and with the economy the way it is cash buyers are few and they expect a lot for their money. It is not a easy time we live in.
As for me I love Gm I always have and I always will do they make a perfect product? NO.Can I blame GM for the all the problems that we encounter with our cars No. Aside from Factory problems, It the dealerships and poor management, lack of proper training on their products that causes the most problems. BUT WE CAN ONLY BLAME OUR SELFS FOR THIS. We allow the dealerships and manufactures to get away with screwing us over and using our selfs and our families as Guinna pigs.Every time that I have not been happy with what has happened to my GM product and it could not be resolved through normal channels. I would just send a letter to Gm corporate offices and within days I had someone on the case.every time to date my problem has been resolved within a reasonable time frame ,have they fixed every concern exactly
as I wanted it done no not even close. with all this being said
there is a serious lack of professionalism in the USA and maybe world wide. People, you, me, and everyone else normally has a lets hurry up and get done with this so I can do the next thing.
when If we just we able to embrace what we are doing with the passion that it deserves at the moment and not simply rush through it,the world would be a better place.
But I don't see this happening most of us have bosses cracking the whip pushing productivity over quality, and its like the domino effect well my car sucks so why should I have to do my job good they didn't. then the doctor goes in for a big mac and gets a fish sandwich, hes now pissed and misses a tumor in his next patient ,these types of events that are what led us in this direction I don't know what can be done to fix it as long as the almighty dollar prevails over human emotion.
What I try to do for my part is to do my best at no matter what I do, And not put up with anything less out of what I buy. This doesn't mean I do things perfectly I screw up consistently but It helps me understand when I try my hardest and fail, Others will also so, I try and give them the same compassion
I would want someone to give my mother if she tried and failed at something.
For me this means research a lot of research before you buy the things you want to own and will have to care for, as they have a profound effect on your health and well being. Good luck I am sorry if I rambled I am just happy to be alive and among some Proud people whom are still embracing an American product while they can.

I am 6'2" as well and the seat position and low windshield are killing me for day to day driving. I just bought a 95 Impala SS that just hit 60k miles and has never seen winter. I am driving this and my wife who is 5'7" is gonna drive the HHR SS for now. After driving the Impala for 500 miles and then getting back in the HHR SS, I will say there is no replacement for driver comfort. I went from having my legs pinned at the side near the centre console to having enough room to put an aquarium at my feet in the Impala. I for one, will never go back to a small compact hatch-back or car, regardless of the price of gas. I would rather shell out an extra $100 a month in fuel now and not have arthritis in my knees when I hit 50 yrs of age.
