After 40 years of cars I've learned that unless i have some special reason, I get factory parts. They always work and work best. When I do go after market I ask for the most expensive rotors and pads they have that aren't specialty application parts (racing, etc.) You pay more and you get more.

^That would fit with my experiences. I have been in and out of motorsports, so I know about entry-level race parts some, too, but the idea that you get what you pay for (assuming you shop around a little) is completely true here.

Most times this holds true but it is not an absolute.

Case in point with these brakes the cheaper Solid name brand rotors are better than any of the drilled, dimpled or sloted ones you can find.

Now on pads generally the $40 and up pads will be much better vs the $18 pads. It just depends on what you are buying as to how accurate this is.

Also note many private lable parts are every bit as good as the name brands in some cases. Why do I say this? Because they are jus repackaged name brands under a private label. Use care when shopping and often you may find a good deal but shop smart.

In some cases like the Summit Racing cold air intakes for most trucks are KNN and they are the same kits KNN sells.
