Searching for an SS
Hey guys, I'm in search of an SS and have found 2 that are similarly priced.
This one is an auto
http://www.alserra.com/details/used-...435/509012984/
And this one is a manual
http://www.lafontainebuick.com/detai...40/1000041022/
I haven't driven the manual yet, and I plan on stopping by after work tomorrow to take a look at it. As far as I can tell the only difference is the interior color and transmission. Is this a good price on either one of these? I was surprised the auto had as much power as it did, even though they have less HP than the manual.
I'm getting rid of my Hyundai Veloster that has less than 12k miles on it. It was TERRIBLE in the very little snow we got in MI last year, and the ride quality is aweful now that its loosened up from being new. I need something that rides a little softer as my father has become disabled from numerous botched spinal surgeries and now lives with me. The Hyundai is rough by my standards, so I can only imagine how it feels for him. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

I have that car, the manual you're looking at. Winter driving is fine IF you have good tires. The factory Michelin's were about the worst tire in wet I've ever experienced, light snow, forget it. I have Goodyear GT's on it now and she went through a pretty decent snow storm to Pittsburgh from Buffalo where I picked up some 16" steel wheels, snow tires, and hubcaps from a guy off this site.
If you don't have the Brembo's I HIGHLY recommend getting some cheap steelies and dedicated snow tires. (or junkyard buy some Cobalt, Malibu rims) They squirm a bit more on dry pavement and you won't be running any races in them but they'll get this car through some decent snow.
One other thing on the '06-08, look at the bottom of the doors on the inside. Mine started bubbling pretty badly before this car even saw any winter.
Good luck.

All of the other rides posted look great guys, but I really need to unload my current car to a dealership unfortunately. I can't stand to have my father ride in my current car anymore, its far to low for him to get in and out of easily, and the crappy roads here in MI really wreak havoc on his back.

Stock tires suck in the snow. I suggest driving one on some bad roads. Mine was almost unbearable on some of our Wisconsin roads. My wife thought there was something wrong with the car on a stretch of freeway north of Milwaukee............

I agree as I would not use the stock tires in the snow as they suck in the rain as it is and are not the grippiest even in the dry.
They are an old Pilot model that is used mostly for OE sales. That means junk tires normall unless it is some high end model like a ZL1 or ZR1

I would recommend. Regular hhr since the ride on the ss is very stiff
If your fathers back is that bad
I have glad both so if you live where the roads a're bad you may want to think twice about the ss

My father was along for the test drive yesterday and thought it rode fine. Its no Cadillac by any means, but a HUGE improvement over my current car. I may have to look into winter rims/tires it sounds like. I have an appointment at 4 today to drive the 5 speed, so wish me luck!
