Should I wait for Camaro V6???

I'm looking for a new car right now.

My choice is either HHR SS or new Camaro V6.

I know that these two are totally different style, but they both have the same base price($23K), both get up to 60 in 6secs and both got Top Speed of 150mph.

If I decide to go with camaro, I have to wait till March2009 to get it...which I don't know if it's worth waiting or not....what do you all think? What are the common concerns about the SS that I should aware of?

The HHR SS will kick the Camaro's butt in fuel economy, BUT, that Camaro is gonna be one hot little number to look at. I saw a body-in-white today, and its got one sexy, wide, curvy butt!!

Make sure the Dealer is firm on the price as few in the first 6 months will be giving great deals on the Camaro even with slow sales on the other cars. Some will but just get it in writiig I know someone who ordered a Challanger only to have it arrive and they jacked the price to near $60K.

The biggest con on the Camaro vs the HHR SS is don't epect to carry much as with the shape of the trunk you will not haul much. The one I saw I was shock big the lid was and how small the opening was.

Also I know someone who has driven both the Preproduction V8 and V6. Bases on their comments, If it is a weekend car the V8 is the prime choice but if your going to daily drive it the V6 is as a great choice with the RS package. Gas is down now but it will go back up in time.

This person is a present 4 Gen Z owner and they plan on getting the V6 as a daily driver. Cheaper to buy, Cheaper to run and as fast as their present V8.

As for the HHR vs Camaro it is just what you want. a cool car or a cool vehicle with utility. Also note the HHR SS will never be sold in the numbers the Camaro is so they will be less common sight if that meansmuch to you.

Your going to see super huge sticker shock with the Camaro's. EVERYONE is going to have one.

Also consider snow. We are limited by the front air dam. (I bought winter only tires for mine to run during the winter)

All of my "toy" cars, 02 WS6, 04 GTO, 87 IROC sit in the garage all winter for several reason. Mainly the salt, but I couldn't move on flat ground if I wanted to with those big tires.

Granted the V6 is going to have skinnier tires than the V8 model, but they will still be wider than the SS

Also, Camaro is a coupe, backseats are going to be small.

So consider if it'll be a daily driver, or a weekend/pleasure vehicle.

Or do both and get the SS and Camaro

Camaro if you want the WOW factor, you'll be drooling over it as you drive past it getting gas. But the wait is a killer, and if they have any delays as they had with the HHR (several posts here still going on) it will be real torture.

Hard call, can't argue much with the 300hp the V6 Camaro will be putting out. Personally I will wait and take a good look at the Z28 when it comes out (yes it's coming) and either go SS or Z28.

Thanks for opinions...I'll wait then!

What's the average MPG you all get on HHR? Does it require premium gas?
