Smell of Burning Rubber.

Smell of Burning Rubber.
When I return home and park my 2008 HHR SS in the garage, there is a distinct odor of burning rubber. I have had the car in the air and checked thoroughly from top to bottom several times and I can't find anything that could cause this smell. I have checked around the turbo and the entire exhaust system, as well as everything in general, and I find nothing.
Has anyone else noticed a burning rubber smell after running their HHR SS ?
I have never had the turbo heat shield off - could a disgruntled worker at the Tennessee factory have tossed a rubber object in there before installing the turbo shield just to drive me bananas ?

my is not ss , but ocasionally i have noticed same smell. i have no idea the cause. noticed in early morning with no one else on the road, i though it might be outside issue , a nearbuy factory , or someone burning something. but it lingers for a while longer than i believe those things would , and has happened in different locations. i think a posible cause could be a bearing somewhere losing it's lubrication and going bad. transaxle?when i changed my oil i noticed some strange looking sustance around the transaxle housing where the axle comes in , it kinda looked like burned rubber. i haven't noticed any fluid on the ground.

I have not been spinning the tires, and I have not accidentally driven with the hand brake on.
When I have it up, I spin all 4 wheels by hand and I don't feel any binding. I have even tried raising it immediately after returning from a drive and sniffing around underneath and in the engine compartment, but I can't localize the source of smell.

Thats like the old guy who asked for ear muffs and nose plugs....can't stand the smell of rubber burning and the screaming hurts his ears.
Almost forgot..had a truck that did this..turns out it was a heater hose that ran within 6 in of the header..would heat up and be stinking but never failed. Check for any rubber hoses or such on the back side of the eng compartment....
