smoke!!

ok so the evening i was playing around with some slow ass acura on the freeway, then we both exit i turned on a side street he followed me. when i saw him coming i starting tearing through the gears using the no lift to shift. when i shifted to 3rd i glanced in the mirror and noticed a LARGE puff of smoke as i did the no lift to shift. is that normal? anyone else notice? i checked my oil a few weeks ago and noticed it was a little low, i just figured they didnt fill it all the way up, it still had enough in it. i guess the smoke i saw is where my oil went too. wonder if i should take it in for this, i was thinking i read in the manual about the no shift to lift, so its a feature of the car i should be able to use and NOT considered abuse..

First off I must applaud your Nobama pic. Secondly could be a couple things. Has it been a while since you really got on it? Could just be a simple build up and pushing it harder than you normally do caused it to shoot all that out. You still are building pressure on the boost gauge I assume?

When I had my 99 Z28 I really got on it and noticed a small bit of darker smoke out the back, didn't have any problems with that. Keep an eye on it, try to do the same thing you did before and see if it does it again.

That is normal for boosted vehicles when you shift because of the drop in rpm and the rich fuel mixture, which is when you shift and get a rich condition. Black Smoke = Rich, Blue Smoke = Oil burn, White Smoke = Antifreeze or water.

if it was dark out, it'd be hard to see black smoke from running rich though

Yes it would be hard to see black smoke, but you someone might see a little flame out the tailpipe when shifting using the nls.
